Intelligent lighting at the Külső-várkert of Pápa
In the field of smart city technology, our company has already made its mark with several successful projects. One of our latest gems is the lighting of the impressive park in the Külső-várkert of Pápa, where our company supplied the HDMR (Dynamic Motion Sensor System) Smart City solution.
The Külső-várkert of Pápa is a true oasis for those seeking relaxation, with walking paths, a playground, and a 1030-meter-long running track with a rubber surface winding through the forest-like environment.
In order to allow visitors to enjoy their walks in the beautiful park even during the evening hours, a modern, intelligent lighting solution was implemented.
For this, our company delivered 105 modern, warm white 3000K Glória Smart 43W LED luminaires, as well as 47 HDMR CS+ outdoor wireless motion sensors and 58 HDMR SL-Zhaga outdoor wireless controllers. The lighting system built with these HDMR Smart City devices not only serves safe evening mobility but also offers significant energy savings for city operations.
The essence of the installed intelligent street lighting system is that when there is no motion in a particular area, the system reduces the light level to the preset minimum value. However, if any motion is detected anywhere on the site by the HDMR CS+ sensors, the system automatically increases the light flow of the affected luminaires to the preset maximum level.
This means that the lighting does not only regulate to the maximum level on the column that detected motion but also in a larger area (e.g., 5 columns before and after the detected movement), ensuring comfortable and safe lighting for park visitors and runners. With this solution, from the perspective of a person walking or running in the park, it is practically unnoticeable that certain parts of the area have reduced lighting because where they move, the luminaires are operating at the regulated maximum levels, providing standard and comfortable lighting. In other words, everyone can always move safely in a “light lane” throughout the park.
From an energy consumption perspective, with the LED solution alone, operators can save about 50% of energy compared to traditional lighting. However, thanks to the settings and operation of the HDMR Smart system, energy demand can be further reduced by up to 80%, as when the park is not in use—typically between 10-11 PM and 4-5 AM when it is almost empty or hardly used—the system reduces the luminaires to the preset minimum level. This leads to significant energy savings.
This type of operation plays a significant role not only in reducing costs but also in not unnecessarily lighting green areas, thus avoiding unnecessary light pollution, which also has less impact on the environment and wildlife.
In addition to the energy savings and environmental benefits, the intelligent park lighting also makes the operator’s job easier, as the HDMR Smart City system immediately sends a notification if any malfunction occurs in the lighting system in the park area. This allows problems to be addressed almost immediately.
