Smart Lighting in Pápai Belső-Várkert and Erzsébet Park: A New Level of Safety and Sustainability

Smart Lighting in Pápai Belső-Várkert and Erzsébet Park: A New Level of Safety and Sustainability

Pápa city is increasingly utilizing the benefits offered by smart technologies to make its public parks more enjoyable and safer. The unique and functional Korintosz Smart and Tweet lighting fixtures, along with our HDMR (Dynamic Motion Sensor System) Smart City solution, provide not only energy efficiency and sustainability but also ensure the safety and comfort of local residents in the Belső-Várkert and Erzsébet-liget parks.

Advantages of Smart Lighting and the HDMR System

Safety and Detection: The HDMR solution uses the latest sensor technology to detect human movement, ensuring that the system responds in real-time to lighting needs, providing the necessary illumination at the right time and location whenever motion is detected.

Energy Efficiency: The Tweet and Korintosz Smart lighting fixtures in the park, integrated with the HDMR Smart City solution, enable energy-efficient operation. The lighting adjusts according to user needs, turning up only when the system detects human presence, and automatically dimming when no movement is detected. This results in significant energy savings, contributing to sustainability.

User-Friendly Solution: The HDMR system is easy to manage and program, making it flexible and quick to adjust the lighting settings based on the needs of the area, further enhancing local residents’ safety and comfort.

Environmental Sensitivity: The energy-efficient and adaptive HDMR smart lighting solution significantly reduces the city’s environmental footprint. Thanks to its intelligent operation, lighting is provided only when and where it is needed, minimizing unnecessary energy consumption.

The Functionality of the HDMR Dynamic Motion-Sensing Public Lighting System

The HDMR system works by lowering the light level to a preset minimum when no motion is detected in a particular area. However, as soon as any movement occurs, the system automatically boosts the lighting to the maximum level for the affected area, ensuring optimal visibility.

For parkgoers—whether walking or running—it’s nearly impossible to notice when the lighting is dimmed in certain areas because, wherever they move, the lighting is always at the maximum level. Thus, they are surrounded by standard and comfortable lighting, creating a sense of safety with a “lighted path” wherever they go.
Energy Savings

With LED technology alone, operators can save approximately 50% on energy compared to traditional lighting. However, thanks to the HDMR Smart City system’s settings and operation, energy demand can be reduced by another 80%. During periods of low park usage—typically between 10 PM and 5 AM—the system lowers the lights to the minimum level, resulting in significant energy savings for the city.
The HDMR Smart City Solution

Beyond its energy-saving and environmental benefits, the smart park lighting system also makes the operator’s job easier. The HDMR Smart City system immediately sends an alert if any malfunction occurs in the park’s lighting system, allowing issues to be resolved quickly.

The HDMR Smart City lighting in the Belső-Várkert and Erzsébet-liget parks in Pápa is not only a local initiative but also serves as a model project for other cities and municipalities. This project demonstrates how smart public lighting technology can be integrated into urban environments to create more livable and sustainable spaces for local residents and visitors.
