HDMR Smart City Public Lighting System at an Industrial Site near Budapest

HDMR Smart City Public Lighting System at an Industrial Site near Budapest

In a modern industrial area, not only efficiency and security are prioritized, but also the optimization of energy consumption. At an industrial site located next to the M5 motorway on the outskirts of Budapest, our company’s innovative HDMR Smart City outdoor road and area lighting system has been installed for nearly a year, integrating the latest smart control technologies.

Motion Sensor-Based Lighting Control

The most significant innovation of the project is the introduction of the HOFEKA HDMR Smart City motion sensor system, which dynamically adapts to the activities taking place in the industrial area. The sensors can detect movement in real-time and adjust the lighting accordingly. When no movement is detected, the lighting fixtures operate in energy-saving mode, with the power set to a reduced level as configured by the user. However, upon detecting movement, the system boosts the lights to their maximum output based on the preset settings, ensuring optimal illumination in the area.

Significant Energy Savings

One of the biggest advantages of the new system installation is the significant energy savings achieved through dynamic control. Thanks to the settings and advanced sensors, operators have reduced lighting energy consumption by over 70%. This solution is not only environmentally friendly but also economically beneficial, as it results in significant savings on electricity bills and reduced operational costs. The HDMR Smart City investment’s additional costs can be recouped in as little as one year, making it an exceptional example of cost-effectiveness.

Lighting Fixtures Used in the Industrial Area

  • 14 KERIS 2 128W LED floodlights

  • 36 KERIS 3 253W LED floodlights

  • 28 Tweet Stelium X2 103W LED fixtures

Calculations (with 4,000 lighting hours annually)

  • Annual energy consumption without HDMR Smart City: ~51,034 kWh

  • Annual energy consumption with HDMR Smart City: ~15,158 kWh

  • Annual energy savings with HDMR Smart City: ~35,876 kWh (~70%)

  • CO2 savings: ~9,328 kg/year

Significant CO2 Savings

In addition to energy savings, the installation of the system has also resulted in a reduction of over 9,000 kg of CO2 emissions per year. The CO2 savings achieved annually with the HDMR system can be compared to the carbon dioxide absorption of more than 365 fully grown trees. This is an environmentally significant development, further enhancing the sustainability benefits of the investment.

Durable and Weatherproof Technology

When developing the HDMR lighting system, the challenges of the industrial environment were also taken into account. The lighting fixtures and control devices are made from durable, weatherproof materials, guaranteeing a long lifespan and minimal maintenance requirements. The integration of the control system also allows for remote access and easy adjustment modifications, providing additional flexibility for operators. In case of any malfunction (whether in the device or electrical network), the system sends an alert to the operator, detailing the nature and location of the fault.

Sustainable Future

This development is an excellent example of how technological innovation can be combined with sustainability. The energy-efficient lighting not only makes the operation of the industrial area more cost-effective but also contributes to reducing environmental impact.

The HDMR Smart City system has already proven its effectiveness in several areas. Its current application can serve as inspiration for other industrial sites facing similar challenges and seeking modern, energy-efficient solutions.
